Now starts the long process of cutting and shaping the rock into something beautiful.
First, I used the tile saw. I was very hesitant to use this machine because it was very scary and I had a fear of cutting a finger off (even though my chemistry teacher proved this would not happen), but I eventually got over my fear and even helped a few of my classmates cut their own rock. To be honest, I wasn't sure what shape I wanted my rock to be. So I cut the sides of my rock to have smooth sides and found the shape of my rocks after that.
After cutting the rocks, I then had to use a machine that grinds the rocks and makes it easier and a little safer to shape. This machine helped me obtain smooth edges on my rocks.
This part of the rock process is taking a little longer than I expected, but it is very exciting to see the deeper layers of my rock that were hidden under all of the dirt.
